Research
Wild turkey research in Missouri has been conducted by the Missouri Department of Conservation for many years. This research has been supported, in part, by research grants from the National Wild Turkey Federation. The results of this research have played an important role in setting harvest regulations. Over the last 10 years, NWTF has granted more than $500,000 to the Missouri Department of Conservation in support of wild turkey research.

Research on the population dynamics of wild turkeys in the Misssouri Ozarks has been conducted continuously since November 1988. A cumulative progress report on the Missouri Ozark wild turkey project is available.

Twenty-four percent of the net proceeds of each fund-raising banquet goes into the National Projects account from which these research grants are funded.
